Mauser built this Parabellum to be looked at, not carried. It was shown under glass at IWA OutdoorClassics, the German trade show where European makers bring out their best work, and the Luxury model designation tells you where it sat in the lineup. The barrel is roll marked .30 Luger, which is the 7.65mm Parabellum, and it wears the original 4 inch length that gives the toggle action its classic profile.

The engraving is the reason to stop. It runs across nearly every surface, but it never crowds. Fine border scroll traces the receiver, the toggle, the frame, and the barrel, with geometric diamond motifs and tight line shading framing each panel in symmetry. Look at the muzzle crown and you find scroll cut right around the front sight. The toggle knobs are finely knurled. Even the grip strap and the takedown lever carry work. The Mauser banner sits clean on the toggle, and the underside reads Original Mauser with the Made in Germany mark on the frame web.

The finish plays satin brushed steel against fire blue. Triggers, levers, pins, the trigger itself, and the safety all show that heat treated indigo and violet that shifts with the light. Against the soft silver of the engraved surfaces, the contrast is deliberate and clean. The grips are checkered walnut, warm in tone, fit tight to the frame.

The pistol comes cased in its fitted Mauser presentation box with the banner engraved into the lid. Inside you get the takedown tool, the loading tool, the cleaning rod, and the case key, along with the Mauser manual and the original test target signed and dated 10/07 from G. Haslberger. For a collector who wants a Luger that was made as a showpiece and documented as one, this is the kind of package that does not come around often.
