Listing Rules and Prohibited Items
Effective: 2026-09-11 • Last updated: 2026-09-28
These rules form part of the Terms of Use. We may remove any Listing that breaks them and suspend the account that posted it.
Listing rules
- One item per Listing; one Listing per item; correct category.
- Accurate title, description and condition. Photographs may show the item itself or the manufacturer's images of the same model.
- The price shown is the seller's own asking price, or “Call for Price”. No bidding, no “make an offer” language.
- Dealers may list firearms from their licensed inventory. A seller who is not a Federal Firearms Licensee may list only a firearm they personally and lawfully own, and is solely responsible for completing any sale lawfully, including through a licensee where the law requires it. GunMister does not verify any seller's licence status.
- Items regulated by the National Firearms Act (machine guns, suppressors, short-barrelled rifles and shotguns, "any other weapons", and destructive devices) may be listed only by a dealer licensed and registered to transfer them, and are transferred only through the ATF Form 4 (or Form 3 dealer-to-dealer) approval process. Transferable machine guns are those manufactured and registered with ATF on or before May 19, 1986. Pre-1986 and post-1986 dealer samples may be transferred only to licensed dealers who qualify to receive them. The buyer is responsible for meeting federal, state and local law.
- No language that suggests avoiding a required transfer, background check, licence or record (“no paperwork”, “no FFL”, “cash only no questions”, “private sale to avoid check”).
- No contact details or links in the Listing body other than the seller's storefront details.
- Buyers and sellers must not use contact details from the Site for any purpose other than the Listing enquiry.
Prohibited items (may not be listed)
- Unregistered machine guns, auto sears, conversion devices, "switches", and any part, kit or instruction designed to convert a firearm to fully automatic fire. (Registered pre-1986 transferable machine guns are permitted when listed by a licensed dealer under the NFA transfer rules above.)
- Unserialised or privately made firearms, unfinished frames and receivers, "80%" kits, and jigs or files for making them.
- Firearms with removed, altered or obliterated serial numbers, and any stolen property.
- Bump stocks, forced-reset triggers, and similar rate-increasing devices.
- Explosives, grenades, rockets, destructive devices, and armor-piercing handgun ammunition.
- Items that are unlawful to sell or possess in the seller's state, and any item advertised for shipment to a state where it is unlawful.
- Body armor, except by Dealers to lawful purchasers in states where permitted.
- Items subject to export controls advertised to persons outside the United States; no international shipping.
- Instructions, plans or files for manufacturing any item on this list.
- Anything else prohibited by federal, state or local law, and any listing for services rather than goods.
