The slide rollmark is where this one tells its story. Custom Shop on one side, High Threat Protection II on the other, with the Kimber, Yonkers, NY USA address cut just below. That HTP designation came out of Kimber's Custom Shop as a duty-ready 1911 built for people who carry for a living, and it is not a configuration you bump into on every dealer shelf.

The gun is a full-size Government pattern chambered in .45 ACP. The matte black KimPro finish covers the slide and frame in a subdued, non-reflective tone, broken only by the satin stainless barrel that shows through the ejection port and at the muzzle. Front and rear cocking serrations give you purchase at both ends of the slide, and the integral light rail on the dust cover handles a weapon light without breaking up the classic profile.

Look at the controls and the Custom Shop intent shows. The trigger is a skeletonized aluminum match unit with a clean face, and it sits behind an extended beavertail grip safety with a memory bump. You get a Commander-style hammer, an undercut trigger guard, and a beveled magazine well that funnels reloads. The grips are a dark, dramatically figured set of textured panels with HTP cut into the lower diamond, and they wrap a flat mainspring housing checkered for grip.

The sights are a fixed three-dot tactical arrangement, low and snag-free. The bore is bright with strong rifling, and the frame-to-slide fit is tight throughout.

This is a working Kimber 1911 with Custom Shop credentials, set up for serious carry rather than the safe. If you want a defensive .45 that came from Kimber already wearing the upgrades most owners chase aftermarket, this is the one to handle.
